Have read that good all around load is 255gr keith bullet over 8.5-9 grs of unique. Would that be a safe load in a taurus judge? Im adding 45 colt to my reloading since i own a few and my dad has a blackhawk and father in law has a judge. Was looking for a good all around load that does job but safe in everything and not beat you to death. I have a 454 for that

That's a fairly mild .45 colt load. I've used 9 grains of Unique and also 9 grains of Herco in my S&W Governor, and my Colt SAA. Also used it in all my Ruger BlackHawks and RedHawks, which are obviously much stronger guns. My nephew has a Taurus Judge and I have loaded him 250 grain cast bullets with 8 grains of Unique, and he's never had a problem with them that he's mentioned. I would guess that the loads you mention should work fine in your Judge.

One of the hollow base bullets might help in that .462 cylinder throat. http://www.westernbullet.com/ra45255grhb.html

They are about the only Judge variant that interests me because they are small enough to carry discreetly. Sumbucks are LOUD with 410's though, I gave a copperhead a double dose a few years ago and my ears hurt for two days.

I've owned three Judges, all the same variant, a 3" stainless chambered for 3" shotshells. All three would not shoot reliably double action. Anybody buying a Judge should shoot them extensively double-action, before relying on them for anything other than target shooting or plinking. They also need to have a load custom-tailored to reliably get shot on a snake-head sized target at anything more than about a yard.

I'll prob stick with the Blackhawk and the super redhawk. I'll load up some 255's and unique and see how they do. Dad came by last night and told me to order some components he was ready to shoot.

8 to 8.5 grains of unique with a 250grain bullet has been pretty much standard for a .45colt for a lot of years.
