Poster Kraky 111 reported in the Reloading Forum in the thread titled "I got burned by the Winchester primer pinhole thing today" that his gunsmith said that Remington primers can do the same thing due to use with loose primer pockets?
Has anyone had this experience with Remington primers? I use Remington primers in Remington brass and loaded thousands of rounds and never had this experience. I try to always discard cases if the primer slides in too easily.
Not wanting to dish on any particular brand of primers, just wanting to know if this has been a problem for anyone here?

I've loaded several thousand 9 1/2 primers over the last few years and never had an issue.
My WLR pinhole leak occurred in a Lapua primer pocket.

I had two Remington 9 1/2 primers with pin hole blow outs that melted divots out of a Model 70 .270 bolt face. Both were from the same box of 100. That was more than 16 years ago at least and I couldn't say what kind of brass it was used in except it was definitely either Remington or Winchester since I used no others back then.
Probably not applicable to today it was really an isolated incident. I discarded the rest of that batch of Remington primers to be safe but out of many, many thousands of LR primers from Federal, CCI, Remington and Winchester used over the last 40 years that was the only time I ever experienced that problem.
Seeing what a tiny pinhole leak did to that bolt face definitely gave me a new respect for the power of a directed stream of hot gas.

Well I'm Kraky and I thought I opened a bag of worms. I did a Google search on Remington primers pin holing.... I found a forum where they were talking about it and the problem seemed to be that they were Remington primers with a two-legged Anvil which were the troublemakers. Apparently for quite some time now they've been making with a three-legged Anvil and those are supposed to be ok. I wanted to post a link but sometimes my tablet doesn't show me an address at the top and didn't on this forum.

Kraky, thanks for that information. I have mainly RP primers and a good supply at that. Just wanted to double check the usability of my supply. Looks like all is well in RP primerland.
