That's why they want someone to drive you home after the procedure and be around. I remember being given a picture of my colon, where there showed evidence of diverticulitis. Couldn't find the picture late that evening when I looked for it. 2 weeks later, I found it in a drawer in the bedroom. Don't remember putting it there. They tell you ahead of time about the amnesia drugs, and also that while you are on them - you won't do anything you wouldn't normally do, you just won't remember. Which makes the whole "bowel monkey" thing all the better. Wife said that I had to "pass air" as the nurses put it, but I didn't feel, "excuse me, you don't want to stand on that side of me; I need to pass air." was going to adequately describe the event. I negotiated down from "I hope the wall paint can withstand a chemical attack."

I had my first one at 45 and clean, second one at 53 and they found 2 non-C polyps. Family history also. Doing the colonoscopy is mandatory for anyone that claims they love their family/living. During prep, the nurse asked if I had any problems, and I answered that there was a song that wouldn't leave my head.
