I'm getting a '98 put together on a Kkale...standard .500 rear .870 front holes. Been a long time since I scoped one and would like to know what's available. So, let's see what cha got. powdr

Two of my favorites are mounted with some old Warne rings and bases that were follow up from Kimber of Oregon. Very similar to Talleys steel vertical split model today. I like them a lot. Lever take off and they do return to zero or really close.

My other one came with an old Redfield JR bridge mount. I went with the Leupold rings for convenience. They have performed just fine, but they are not as attractive as the first generation Warnes. I am not a fan of today' Warne rings. That silly floating lock bar is a pain to me, and they are heavier than they need to be.

All three of my Mausers (two small ring Browning Safaris and a custom stocked commercial FN) have irons. If you are not installing irons, look at the SK one piece rings. Clean and attractive best describes them.

Good wishes,

Jack

I suggest you talk to Morris, he is very good to deal with.

Conetrols on both of these two........not great pic but all I have w/o taking new ones.

I used the bases as a template to drill the reciever for these but the standard bases are pretty much the same.

I have had great luck with Alaska Arms rings and bases as well. I think I may have Morris convinced to start making his QD rings for Weaver/Picitinny bases as well. A nudge from more of you should do the trick.

powdr: using mostly Weaver steel bases 46/45 (S) large ring or 46/55 (S) for small ring actions...for both Weaver and TPS rings.

For a 56mm scope, a Tally lightweight--the medium will clear 56mm and the low will clear a 50mm

Phil: would appreciate very much AA making some QD rings for weaver bases...

I have been in his ear attempting to get him to produce his mounts in 16mm to suit the older Brno, modern CZ, and Tikka T3.

There is a market for such.

Phil, what would be even better is if he made the Weaver bases w/the same thread on the cross bolt that Weaver uses so a guy could change the rings from quick detach to permanent w/one of the large Weaver nuts.

Tomk, that's probably what I'm going to use. I have several #45,46's but couldn't find a #55 in the house. Would like to go with Conetrol but that place is so messed up now that George died...I don't want to fool w/them.

I like the S&K's but hate sculptured bases...so they're out. powdr

Why not?

They are very strong.........can be a bit difficult to get the rings on & the scope straight until you've done a few & learn the tricks to make it easier.
