I need some information on loads for the cartridge. What is your recipe using a 130 Nosler Ballistic Tip? Thanks

hodgdon shows a coal of 3.250 with a 130 gr. bullet, pushed by 76gr. of 7828 for a vel. of 3500fps

It's hard to beat IMR 7828 with 130's in the .270 Wby.

73.0 grs of RL-19,Fed 215 mag primer and 130 gr NBT. From a 26" barrel it's getting 3356 fps average.

73grs of RL-22, Fed 215m primer will get you 3400+ out of a 26"bbl.

Nosler rates the Ballistic Tip to 3200fps, and there's probably a valid reason for that. But folks seem to get away with shooting it at 3400-3500fps (I prefer the 150grBT  3200 myself). Personally, I'd be more inclined to go with the Accubond in that bullet weight. I have also used the 130gr Partition with 72.5-73.5gr of RL-22.

I shot one whitetail with the 270 Weatherby and a 130gr bullet. That was enough for me. 150gr mag tips and hot cores after that. It was a big old breeder doe at a little under 200 yds. The entrance hole was the size of my fist. There were pieces of heart on the ground. I'm all for quick clean kills,but that was a tad excessive. Thank goodness there wasn't any edible meat handy that bullet. With exception of the heart. I've eaten my share of venison hearts. Find a quality 15O the rifle likes and never look back.

This is BIL gun and he does a lot of shooting across bean fields so he thinks he needs a lite bullet & a lot of speed. Thanks for the options.

76 grains of 7828 in my Mark V gave me an average of 3535 FPS. Shot well, too.
Heal quickly and don't scar.
