We picked up our 5 month old female after two weeks of training at Quinebaug Kennels in Canterbury Ct.
She was the loudest dog in the kennel and on the patience chain!
It took time but Jordan the trainer brought her around. Smart dog, wants to dominate and great prey drive.
After a two hour training session with my son and the trainer we were very satisfied.
Going to the Rick Smith puppies foundations seminar this weekend at Quinebaug.
Returning her for two weeks in July.

Sounds good
I got the dominate female of the litter, strong prey drive, smart 18 months old now. First year she tried my patience ( still does I think a good deal is from periodic boredom) but a great dog
Be patient

Super! Looking forward to hearing how she progresses. I will probably wish I had spent the money to send my PP to a trainer, but we're having fun trying to figure it out.

Yes, feel free to share! Hank and I are heading to a local NAVHDA chapter training day. They'll have 3 pigeons for me to use. Not sure what to do with them, but I'm thinking I'll 'sacrifice' one by letting him maul it. The others I'll try to plant and see if he figures out what a bird smells like.

The Rick Smith seminar was worth every penny. My son participated the first day, me the second because he was called to work.
Prior to the seminar, we sent the dog to Quinebaug Kennels in Canterbury Ct. For two weeks.
She was a stubborn dog and had consulted with Rick Smith.
Jennifer Broome owns a top notch operation, excellent trainers, new kennel facility, plenty of land, great obstacle course.
As pointed out during the seminar, the genetics are there, it's getting the dog trained on the patience chain, wonder lead, whoa line and Garmin or similar device.
Rick hammered it home - get the basics down, be detailed oriented, it makes the birding much easier.
I would highly recommend Quinebaug and a Smith seminar.
BTW, I also joined the local NAVDHA which is a big help, but the two weeks and seminar made the difference.

I had picked up several recommended books and Rick Smith video's and all were helpful.
I did not know how to train a dog properly and once I went to the seminar and follow up training at Quinebaug Kennels, I had a much clearer picture of how to do things properly with the dog and what to expect.

Thanks for the info! I'm going to do my best to get him through the NA test in Aug and then might see about some seminars or training if he does well. I'd really like to get him through the UT test, just not sure I have the time or exposure to resources (land, birds) to do that...
