The drop at heel is a little more than some people like,which has been mentioned here before.
I guess I have a long face and have pulled off a miracle shot or two with mine but that drop bugs some people. Why the long face, Bob?

Beautiful rifle Bob. If I were the OP, I'd opt for a hunters compact if wanting to go with the fwt contour. The compact stock is damn near perfect with the pre 64 fwt platform. YMMV.. And yet I had one an absolutely hated it. Felt akin to picking up a Glock, something just wasn't right. Just goes to show there's a seat for every ass. 
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

Is the M 70 one that can be used as it is? Pre-64 Featherweights were as good as it got!
While I have old M70's it's easier these days to get instant delivery on a super light Kimber Montana. They have an even smoother safety than a 70.
