Aloha!

I live on the north shore of Maui, Hawaii and want to transition to an indoor/outdoor lifestyle of living in a canvas wall tent. It seems Davis makes some of the best tents so I'm interested in buying one although I wanted to see if anyone has any recommendations for the best tent for the tropical rainforest, a warm and humid environment that has a tendency to grow mold. Would mildew treated canvas be a good option or should I go with a different material?

Talk to these folks.

http://tentsmiths.com

I've had one of their smaller wall tents since about 1984.

They sell to folks all over the world. And have had lots of their products in movie productions too. They make a good product. They can stear you the right direction.

Good Luck!

If thats the one I see in your photos all the time, Kay, its really nice.

Really like your setup with that tent, and the small tables and chairs out front and all. Really well done.

Is that a wedge tent? Which size?

Really captures late 19th-early 20th century feel.

Thanks Will!!
That wedge tent is a Panther Primitives made tent. I picked it up about 2 years ago from a friend. I use it now as I can set it up easier by myself and with fewer stakes, etc. I wish this wedge was open on both ends but I couldn't pass up the price! wink

Tentsmiths makes some larger wedge tents that are open at both ends that do give the advantage of being set as a lean to arrangement. Great is warmer weather.

Oldest son currently has the old wall tent in his possession.

To me the wedge fits my needs very well. Is dry and comfy when it needs to be! I have a 12'x12' diamond fly that I set up as a hip roof awning that is also real nice. Four 4' corner poles and a 7' center pole.
