To all of Winchester guys,
I am looking to buy Super Grade rifle. The floor plate has super grade engraving with multiple dashes in front and one at the end and looks like this "-------Super Grade-". I never saw this before. What does it mean?
Thank you.

I'm sure someone else will chime in, but it sounds to me like a post 64 supergrade. I could be wrong, what's the serial number?

Not sure of the serial number, however, the seller says it's from current run.

Well if it's a current gun. You are buying an FN made gun, I have not idea why the dashes would be there, maybe thus just thought it looked cool. Does seem strange though

Have not really looked at many post 64 SG's, but that doesn't look right to me. My guess is a manufacturing defect/error, can't imagine someone wanting it to look that way....

Going to give them a call, I guess.

Called FN, it is a manufacturing error.

Looks as though the "dasher" had a bad case of the stutters. May be a one of a kind, a manufacturing error and quality control oversight for sure.

I wouldn't let a little thing like that stop me from buying the rifle, if the price is OK. But it would be a constant reminder of how they've lost quality, over the years. And I'd rather have a pre-64. Still, the Super Grade would be tempting.

The new FN BACO is the best dang model 70 ever made... whistle wink

The same people made those rifle cases for the JOC rifles that said "Lewision" Idaho..... whistle

My friend, don't worry about it. You bought one heck of a fine and beautiful rifle.

I hope you enjoy it for a lifetime.

Blessings,

Steve

Man, I'm even happier all my Winchesters say "Made in the USA", after seeing this. I mean, how much more obvious does it get. Thanks for sharing.

Good luck with it. I hope everything on the inside is as it should be.
