How do I determine the date of manufacture of my Marlin 336? Write Marlin/Remington? My uncle passed it to me. It is '90s manufacture at the latest based on when he bought it, but he purchased it used. It has the older medium brown wood stain with white line spacers and Microgroove rifling.
Thanks in advance. Expat

I plan to. All the metal is in great shape, but the more I look at it, the more I think the buttstock and forend are mismatched. The buttstock has the whiteline spacers and medium brown stain typical of older 336s, but the forend has a different stain that shows a lot more woodgrain.
I'm going to put a peep sight on it as my eyes aren't as great with open sights as they used to be.
