Fondled one at our new Sportsman Whorehouse last nite. Man, it sure is light. Not keen on the brake, but you can unscrew it. The straight combed stock doesn't fit me worth a schitt.

I think you are looking at the short action Adirondack....nearly the same as long action Mountain Ascent.
Not sure if Adirondack comes with brake but it does have the thimble.
I have a mountain ascent in 270 with 6x32 Leupold and it shoots great and functions very well....a great rifle to carry as the magazine area is slim...like carrying a 99 Savage. Extra Low Talleys are a bit too low for that scope so I relieved the bolt handle a bit.

Also have an Ascent in .270 with Leupold 6x36 LRD in Talley Ex-lows. 5lbs, 15oz empty. Love the ergonomics. As mentioned above, the stock is thin thru the action area. Makes it easy to 'one hand' the rifle when carrying it. Likewise, had to put a slight relief in the top of my bolt handle to not rub the scope occular bell when cycling the bolt. Still need to do load work up.

I have one. Mine shoots! The brake isn't as loud as many. It handles, points, and carries well. I wish I'd bought it sooner. I'll dig up some pics. They only way I'd consider the Adirondack is if it was going to wear a suppressor.

@ 70 yards. This is basically right out of the box, less a couple to get it on paper. 168gr. SMK Federal GM308M

I did some scope swapping, it now wears Zeiss Duralyt 2.5-8x42mm. It matched the weight of the Kahles CL 3-9x42mm pictured sans the parallax knob. A Z3 3-9x36mm would shave 4oz.

I have a Mountain Ascent in 30-06, and I have zero complaints. Lightweight, very accurate, and extremely easy to carry. I did replace the firing pin spring, due to light strikes when I got it. Since then, it goes "bang" every time. Working up a load didn't take much time either. The rifle is not too picky about what bullet it likes. Brakes don't bother me, and the factory one does its job well. Glad that I bought it, and looking forward to taking it to northern Michigan this fall!

So it's a 22" barrel with a 2" brake?

I decided to leave my KMA is is, changed to a silver Leupy 3.5x10x40, in sts Talley QDs and load 160NPts. over about 62-RE-26, gives 3000 fps-mv and small groups.
Bob, you SHOULD get one, it really IS a helluva rifle, especially in .280AI.
I have not been shooting for a few weeks, too many issues at home, but, hope to get out Monday, 20th, to tune it and a few more of my far too many rifles.
The KMA is among the VERY LAST hunting rifles I would now part with, it is ideal for an old gimpy guy in BC's mountains.

I have the 300 WSM Mountain Ascent on order and it should be here within a month I'm hoping. Looking forward to getting it on the range and then hunting with it.
