About the apple not falling too far from the tree?

A naked intruder shot by a Portland homeowner Wednesday has been identified as former NFL player and Stanford star Stanley Wilson II.

The Multnomah County Sheriff's Office said Wilson was shot in the abdomen as he tried to break through the back window of a multimillion-dollar home. Police reportedly found him lying in a water fountain.

A Sheriff's Office spokesman told the Oregonian that he could not yet release details of why Wilson was trying to enter the house or why he had no clothes on. The 78-year-old homeowner who shot him has not been identified.

Wilson remained hospitalized Friday and is expected to recover.

The former cornerback for Stanford University was drafted in the third round by the Detroit Lions in 2005 and played three seasons, but a ruptured Achilles tendon cut his career short.

Wilson, 6 feet all and 185 pounds, was arrested on suspicion of first-degree burglary and first-degree trespassing, but the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office filed a "no complaint" dismissing the charges Thursday afternoon, KOIN reported.

Wilson reportedly is likely to face a grand jury instead, pending the results of an investigation, KOIN said.

Under Oregon law, a homeowner is justified in using "deadly physical force upon another person" if the other person was burglarizing or trying to burglarize a home.

Wilson is the son of former Cincinnati Bengal Stanley Wilson Sr. who famously missed the 1989 Super Bowl after a coach found him in a hotel bathroom in a cocaine-induced stupor. The elder Wilson is now serving a 22-year sentence for burglarizing a Beverly Hills home, his third transgression under California's "three strikes" justice system.

Stanley Wilson II's Facebook page contains several references to to God. For a while he used an image with the words "My life is based on a true story" as his cover photo.
