http://www.nydailynews.com/news/nat...nsiders-seceding-texit-article-1.2686747The official movement insists its goal is to have Texas run purely by Texans.
“We believe that Texans are tired of being governed by bureaucrats in Washington that we didn't elect forcing policies on us that we don't want,” it says on its website.
But some Texit supporters have other reasons for backing secession.

AK has had groups pushing that way for many years.
Mark Begich, Joaquin Jackson, and Heller resistance... Three huge reasons to worry about the NRA.

A land is like a woman; when she's 16-20 she's like the U.S. before discovery, virgin and untouched. From 21-30 shes like South America hot and steamy. From 30-40 shes like Europe urbane and cultured. Over 40 shes like Texas, everybody know its down there but nobody gives a damn.

It'll never happen as long as so many of their citizens are on Social Security. The state cannot afford to match that cost and they will not vote to take it from their parents and themselves. Should the US default on SS, I would bet on their cession. They been talking about it too long to not be serious.

I wish you boys would rush the door. Hopefully it would become contagious and a bunch of us would follow suit.

My idea has been a Greater Alaska-Yukon Autonomous Region that would also include NWT, but I could live with including L48 PNW and Rocky Mtn states. MT would have to uhm...."purge" a couple of their cities of undesirables.

I need to start looking there for a small farm with water. If it ever happened, land prices would skyrocket. I can imagine the place would be flooded with freedom seekers. May be a good opportunity for good Californians to trade real estate with the Austin crowd too.

They have been beating that drum here in NY for years as well,(more so splitting the state in half).Financially not a viable option,I would think Texas gets a good portion of Fed.dollars as well. Not sure if they put more in?

All we gotta do is take Louisiana and Oklahoma with us. He with the crude, ports, refineries, etc makes the rules.
As soon as we restrict welfare and immigration these types will head for greener pastures. Mission accomplished.
It is irrelevant what you think. What matters is the TRUTH.

Often wondered (mere speculation) how a 21st century engagement between Texas and Mexico would pan out??? Lots of fifth columnist already here. And they have alloes.
Just speculation as I say. Wonder if it would get to that? Definitely an interesting thought.

Ain't gonna happen.
The Feds print money and therefore control everything. There is far too much bribery coming from Washington for secession to ever be a serious option.
Now, if the Federal fiat monetary system were to collapse, it would be a different story....

I feel your interpretation is pretty close.
Lots to happen.
