Any 243 Win or 308 Win or 6.5 creed? And 7-08 as well in the Alpine version.

Of course all this good news comes a week after I took delivery on a Ruger AW .243 for $150 more.
Actually, I prefer the Ruger stock, and it's a bit lighter, but Howas are just great rifles. Why anyone would look twice at one of the econo-rifles while these are available for the same money is a mystery.
Has anyone come up with a reason they're discontinuing the SS models?
What fresh Hell is this?

Matt from LSI said on another forum that it was because demand for SS barreled actions died off, and many people just wanted the look of SS. He also tucked in his response that they can Cerakote in-house, which I assume means a SS look without the cost (i.e. more profit).

Since Weatherby probably deals direct with Howa, maybe the SS Vanguards will still be available, at a higher price, of course. I don't mind paying more for real stainless, which is another reason I bought the Ruger instead of one of Derrick's $329 Howas. He did get me for one of his Smith .22 Victories, though!

The deal was made while the Howa guys were at company meetings. None of them returned to work until after the 4th.
