If there are coyotes, fox, or bobcat around forget it. Too far down the food chain. They aren't going to want to get their ass kicked...
Get a live trap. They're one of the easiest animals in the wild kingdom to trap....
Luck....is the residue of design...

We do have coyotes and Bobcats.. Live trap? Sounds like asking to get sprayed.. I was thinking of shooting from some distance...

Yes, I've had a couple come in to a call. I wouldn't bother trying to target them specifically with a call because it's too hit or miss. A trap is your best bet.

A good buddy of mine out in western Colorado made a homemade skunk trap. It trapped them live, but was made so the skunk was unable to raise its tail once it was caught in the trap. He would throw a tarp over it and run the lawn mower exhaust under it long enough to smother the striped varmint. There are a few options out there....https://www.google.com/search?q=live+skunk+trap&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8

Here's a live trap I used for years when I had my nuisance wildlife control business. I caught a few hundred skunks in town is this same trap and only ever had one spray in the trap. I just drilled a couple of 1/2" holes in the top of the back of the trap and dropped them in a barrel of water door end down. In five minutes they were done with no smell. Bait it with peanut butter. Tuna fish or cat food works but you'll catch a lot of cats. The skunk cannot see out and doesn't feel threatened and won't spray. Of course don't jostle and shake the trap a bunch or they may. That's what happened with me. I hit a pot hole and the trap rolled over on its side. Must have startled the skunk enough to set him off. live trap
Chronographs, bore scopes and pattern boards have broke a lot of hearts.

I use sardines, outside light, and a 10/22 with a lazer from the house. Try to shoot as far away as possible as most times they spray. The buzzards clean up the next day.

Trap is the way to go. They are extremely docile. Unless you drop the trap while moving it, or bang it around, they won't spray. I've trapped and moved hundreds, started off using a tarp to cover a Hav-a-Hart trap and finally just stopped doing that. Never had a single one spray, even when you had to poke them with a stick to wake them up and make them leave the trap.
I'd Helluva lot rather deal with a hundred skunks in a live trap before dealing with a single raccoon or a big stray tom cat. Them SOBs are just MEAN and will do all they can to get you. A skunk? Hell, it just wants to eat some food and take a nap.

Here is the recipe we use for sckunk spray as tomoto juice dies not work.
BAKING SODA, PEROXIDE, and 2 TABLE SPOONS OF DAWN Mix immediately before putting on as a paste. Keep the paste away from EYES, NOSE, EARS! Leave the paste on for 5 minutes then rinse off. It really works. But it may bleach some hair. It turned the brown lab we had into a stawberry blonde.
Does anyone else have something better?

Does anyone else have something better? Yeah. Use a live trap and don't get sprayed or have them spray in the first place.

Cover a live trap with a garbage bag.
After you catch him approach the trap from the closed end.
Take to your neighbors pool and throw it in. Wait four days and retrieve your trap from the dumpster behind your local PD.

That concoction worked on our Boxer, at 3 am. But I think it was a little thinner than a paste. I did make his whites whiter, and his colors brighter.

Ping pong balls for the win. Once you've wrestled everything else in life is easy. Dan Gable I keep my circle small, I’d rather have 4 quarters than 100 pennies.

I was coming home from the grocery store and I caught one next to the house. I fired two shots with my trusty J frame and he hauled ass. I was using wadcutters and I think I missed but he was moving faster than my paper targets do.
I like to do my hunting BEFORE I pull the trigger! There is only one kind of dead, but there are many different kinds of wounded.
