Central Michigan Gunsmithing eh? Is the 'smith's name Kip? Does Bob Oates do their checkering? Did they do the metal work too?
Again LOVE the rifle!

Nice. I have a very fine 7x57 built by Jim Wisner many years ago on a M96 that is just a dream rifle. Just ask ingwe... One of five exquisite rifles I've seen in my life...used to be four till I got to Eds place..... The one in the OP is not to be despised however..... Ok, EdM and Ingwe -- You can't leave us hanging like this! We need fresh pictures to drool over! John Sorry but I am at that the place in north Idaho where 4g is marginal on my 4x6 LG so photos I have are not yet sorted.

efw, yes the smith is Kip Wood. Bob Oates did not checker this rifle Kip did it. I know Bob very well but he hasn't done any checkering for Kip in a very long time that I'm aware of.
Where in MI are you?

I saw the stock at Kip's before you picked it up. Beautiful work. I've made a couple of guns in the last two years. Kip checkered both. I live in Clare. Where are you? Not many custom gun folks around here.
I have threads on AR and Rimfire Central that cover what I did on my guns.

Dick Im I Shepherd. We have met before and have some friends in common. Ron Breedlove is one of them. He made a 25-06 prior to this and I'm working up loads for both rifles.
I read your article in DGJ on your Ruger #1. Kip made me one and I posted pics of it here and on another thread called Ruger #1 gun porn or something like that. It came out very, very nice as well.
He does exemplary work.

That 275 Rigby is way cool and in my favorite caliber too. EdM And then some aye Ed? Don't you have really nice small ring Grisel you want to sell to me? Like I don't know the answer already. Got a picture at least? Let me get my bib. Nice. I have a very fine 7x57 built by Jim Wisner many years ago on a M96 that is just a dream rifle. Just ask ingwe...

Rich,
Hope we get a chance to meet again. There are very few people around here that actually appreciate these custom guns and know what they are looking at.
I've been known to hang around the matches at ICSC. I shoot in the rimfire ones. I'll probably shoot in the centerfire matches when I get my Ruger No. 1 in .222 done. At my age it probably won't be competitive but that isn't the point... I just like to shoot in matches.
Breedlove and I travelled to matches for several years when I was writing for PS and shooting BR a lot.

Thanks to all for the positive comments. There's only one thing left to do on it and that's a checkered bolt. They are on backorder from Brownells and I didn't want to wait. This winter I'll send the bolt out for a three panel checkering job. I have a two panel checkered bolt if interested.

These are my opinions, feel free to disagree.

Ed thanks for the offer. The smith feels that as the rifle is inletted for the existing bolt it would be better to use that one and have it checkered.
