The Shilen stainless barrels cut like butta:)

Their (CM) barrels cut the same as other CM barrels. Though they have their own name for what I think is 17-4PH stainless. You need to use a lot of lathe rpm and a heavy feed rate. Not my favorite as I've seen no advantage t them.

I built this 223 with a 1972 Sav 110 223 action and a Lothar Walther barrel from Brownells.

I built this 7mmRemMag with a VZ24 military Mauser action and a Lothar Walther barrel from Brownells.

I also Built a 257 Roberts Ackley on a VZ24 action with a Lothar Walther barrel from Brownells in 2002.. no pic.. I helped 3 other guys to build the same rifles for them.

All three Chrome Moly and had excellent accuracy, but I am probably done with LW due to small small selection at Brownells and deal killer interaction I have had with LW US.

I received a chrome moly #2 contour Lothar-Walther this year. My first and last. The outside is on the bumpy side and will require more work to clean up than a first rate product would.

I may be the odd man out but I had a LW stainless .17 Hornet barrel 20 or so years ago that was one of the most accurate barrels I've ever owned. For a sporter weight gun it was a drill.

A mate has LW 9.3x62 barrel on a mauser 98 sporter, anyway it got reprofiled by a very competent Gunsmith before firing so I cant comment on its accuracy, but its now a shotgun.
