Lucked into an unfired (no box) 1999 Cowboy 30-30 yesterday.

I stopped at a very small shop I rarely get to and which usually doesn't have much exciting in the gun rack.
Well, yesterday they did. Luckily, I also had a nice Mauser 22 in the car with me that I've been trying to sell/trade off and on. The owner was interested enough in it to agree to a trade, plus some cash on my end. I am pretty happy since I have admired these guns since they first came out, and I have never seen one in 30-30, let alone been anywhere close to a deal on one.

This one has a Lyman tang sight instead of the usual Marbles sight, and someone put a slot filler in the rear sight dovetail, but otherwise, I really don't think it has been shot; it's that nice.

I also had a nice 1894CB in 357 Mag. that I bought NIB, and let go years ago. Still kicking myself on that one as it was pure fun to shoot.

I do like a long barreled levergun.

It feels a little strange most likely being the first person to shoot this one. Maybe I shouldn't . . . .

Ha! Just need to load up some cast bullets and I'm off to the range! :-)

Now I don't feel so bad about not having shot some of my guns yet!
Hopefully, I'll get this one out in the next month or two.

Nice find!! I've wanted one, never even seen one.

An acquaintance bought one in .38-55. A while later I got the .45-70 CB 1895. A year or two later after some swapping and horsetrading at the same gun store I wound up with his old gun and he wound up with my old gun. I scoped both of those cowboy marlins long enough to do some load testing. Both of them shot sub MOA with at least one factory load and at least one handload ... and later came mighty mighty close with a receiver sight. Can't argue with that.

It does look a lot better than that high pedestal that they use for the Marbles sight.

Still haven't had a chance to shoot this rifle.

X2, she is a sharp looking rifle. I don't know if any of the 336 cowboys made it north of the border.
