Howdy all,
I am looking to stock up on 22lr now that it is fairly available and plan to do some shooting this fall.
What would you guys recommend if you were going to buy by the brick/case without trying in your guns first? I have a few nice 22lr's s and one of them will like it I'm sure.
Looking for some decent quality stuff up to the $5-$6/50 range.
Thanks I appreciate it.

+1 on that.
Auto Match tends to be pretty decent and it's even cheaper. I hear some rifle led don't like it much but it's been pretty good in my rifles.

Federal std vel Match is consistently good in everything I tried it in from rickety old slide actions to a Winchester 52. It runs $40/brick at the LGS. If you stumble onto some Winchester T-22's grab 'em. I shot a bunch of Auto Match back when it was the only thing seemingly available, but got mixed results in various guns. I relegate it to tin can plinking.

The SK/Wolf is pretty good in everything I've shot it through. For $60/500 its not a steal but in this market, its tolerable.

I Like cci mini mag HPs for hunting. My rifle shoots them well and they seem consistent from year to year.

Again for the SK standard or wolf match target in that price range. Not too far behind in many of my guns is CCI standard velocity. Never cared for mini-mags much in regards to accuracy. That being said my personal go to hoarding ammo is Norma TAC. Always available and consistently performs WELL above its price point.
She never made it past the bedroom door, what was she aiming for...? She's gone shootin..

I normally go for hollow point ammo. Between two CZ's and a 10/22 wearing two different barrels, mine all have liked WW Powerpoints, CCI Mini Mag HP, and CCI Velocitors.. in varying orders of preference. The only (expensive) target ammo I've tried is CCI Green Tag- all of them loved it!

They may be the same but when shot side by side they are different. Maybe just different lots. I shot some ccci standard that was pretty good today.

+1 on CCI Std. Vel. I just shot a box yesterday out of my Springfield 1922M2, one ragged hole at 50 yds.. Plenty good enough for me and readily available in my area. Haven't bought any recently so can't say regarding pricing.

In a bolt gun Wolf MT. or Sk Standard plus. THIS I agree, but it's going to cost more than $6.00/box of 50. Add shipping costs on top of the price too, since the OP says he'll be buying online... Cabela's had the SK standard plus last weekend and I bought a brick, since I know my 10-22 loves it. Price there is $7.49/50
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

The sk standard out there for $60 a brick with very reasonable shipping, especially if one was buying a bunch.

+2 on the CCI SV's. Don't know what it is about them, but one of my guns just loves it and the others shoot it well.

And if you shop carefully, you can get a case of 5,000 for $500 shipped to your door. If my rifles (Anschutz & CZ) the SK Std Plus is about 90-95% as accurate as Eley Black Box (5 shots = 0.5" at 100) but it's only 25% of the cost...
