My question is with the caliber conversion kits.

Do you need the whole kit to swap from one caliber to the next? Is more the shell plate need to be swapped?

Very confusing!

I am aware of that page. My question is do I need every single part listed under the caliber to swap calibers?

If so that is nuts. I have to spend close to 1800 dollars just for the kits mad

The kits show the parts and they are interchangeable - just use the table to figure out what all you need and how you can get there without buying every kit. Not an easy answer, but yes you have to change everything listed in the kit.

If the shell plate is the same and the primer size is the same, you just need to swap the dies/tool holder. I.E. 30/06 to 270 Win. just change dies.
If you want to changed 30-06 to 223, then you need the whole package.

I may not be smart but I can lift heavy objects

I have a shotgun so I have no need for a 30-06.....

Fortis,

I have one, and you do have to get different shell plates for non-similar heads.

For 308 / 30-06 ... I have one shell plate
For 223 / 204 I have another
For 45 I have one
For 9mm I have one

I have one and like it.

Setting it up is a PITA, but once it's rolling, it rocks!

yes, you'll need a bunch of different widgets for different calibers. As Spotshooter said above, many parts have multiple applications.

ie 223 and 300 BLK have same shellplate, etc.

I only load the high-volume stuff on it. (pistols, semiauto rifle)

all my heavy rifle stuff I still do on the Rockchucker I bought when I was about 14. one-at-a-time.

but for .223 or 9mm, or 38 spl, 45 acp, the 650 shines.

Wouldn't trade mine. I have multiple plates. Load only pistol rounds. It's not near as expensive as the kit indicates and it's a piece of cake to swap cartridges when you want to load something else.
