Today I took the Ruger American .300 Blackout (16" barrel) and a box of Barnes VOR-TX 110 grain cartridges to the range. Since I don't do the barrel brake in any more I only ran a couple dry patches through the bore and called it good. It started firing 1 3/8" groups as I moved the reticle to sight it in. Apparently after it was fouled the last two groups measured 15/16" and 1/2". It was fun to see the three shots all touching the crosshair.

The Barnes ammo was a real surprise. The Extreme spread was 78 feet per second with an average velocity of 2,342 fps. The standard deviation was 20. Barnes claims these bullets will open at 1,350.

Ruger claims a weight of 6.2 pounds. This one weighs 5.9 pounds.
