It looks like dill but has almost no odor. The slight odor it has isn't dill. It stands above knee high. A farmer down the road has about 40 acres growing.

It sure looks like it from the photos I can find on google. If that's what it is, it's an unusual crop for around here.

Queen Anne's Lace is the wild progenitor of our domestic carrots. That farmer might be growing carrots for the seed. I have seen carrot seed operations near Bend Oregon. If that 40 acres is in rows, it's not Queen Anne's Lace. If it is just scattered about, the farmer has a serious problem in his pasture.

Some Queen Anne's lace in it's early stage near the Great Mullein. It is quite prevalent around these parts.

It is not in rows so I don't think it's part of the CRP seed. We took out 100 stalks after we burned the CRP because we did not want it to reseed. I put weed killer on the stumps. It is supposedly biannual but it seems to grow for more than 2 years. kwg

Queen Anne's Lace, also called Chigger Weed by some older rural folks.

I can't imagine anyone intentionally growing that crap.
That farmer has a bad infestation of a nasty weed that is almost impossible to kill, except by tilling the ground thoroughly every year until you can eliminate all the dormant seeds.

If you look closely at Queen Anne's Lace in bloom, you will see one single purple floret right in the center.

Got it solved - carrot seed. If you're not familiar with them, carrots are biennials. You grow the root the 1st year for eating. Then you replant them the 2d year for the seed.

That doesn't look like the kind of carrots that you grow for food.
Queen Ann's Lace is a nickname for Wild Carrot - a totally different plant, but related. I don't know of any use for this junk. It is a very invasive weed that is difficult to get rid of.

As I said, it's a biennial. The 2d year's growth looks nothing like the 1st year which is just a bunch of greenery.

I did not know they grew it there. There is a lot of carrot seed grown in parts of Central OR so your climate should be good too. For what is is worth, radish seed is the worst I know of to grow and harvest. That stuff is almost imposable to walk through making irrigation a miserable task. As others have said, Queen Ann's Lace if called wild carrot and grows in abundance around here.

I knew there was some carrot seed being grown here but I hadn't seen any of it. Now that I know what it looks like, it's pretty easy to recognize.

I don't see it (Queene Anne's lace) in the cow pasture, just more forage for them.
