OP elkchsr Campfire Regular Joined: Feb 2005 Posts: 1,520 Helena, MT	I took the week off work, loaded up the camper and headed south for a week of elk hunting. The first morning I woke up with 2" of snow on the ground. I saw this bull with 28 cows feeding back into the timber. The wind was wrong so I just watched. That afternoon I made a big loop around where I thought they bedded to get the wind right and waited. About 45 minutes before dark I heard the bull bugle, and when he bugled the second time I could tell he was much closer. The cows were the first ones out of the trees. All 28 cows passed by me single file at 26 yards. He was the last one out of the trees and I was able to get the first arrow in him at 26 yards. He ran another ten yards and stopped so I hit him again, ten yards later I was able to get a third arrow in him and he was down. It happened fast and I didn't make a single call. My best bull yet.
