I try to avoid buying Remington guns and their .22 rim fire (Thunder duds) ammo, but have had good luck with their center fire handgun ammo in the past.

Purchased a new Kahr pistol in.380 and picked up a box of Remies to go with my other brands for the big test day at the range to see if the gun worked ok, the Kahr was 100% reliable, glad to have that out of the way. I chose Remington ammo as I liked the bullet shape over the SIG stuff, thought it would feed better. Used 5 rounds of the Remington ammo, and did not notice the defective round (see pictures) in the box as I had not pulled the tray all the way out, used mostly my Serbian ammo for the initial break in.

As you can see the primer on one of them is in backwards, not sure if the gun would have detonated properly with a backwards primer. I have the knowledge to not try it, but newbies to the gun world might have put that into their magazine and would have had a rude surprise when they dropped the hammer on the ol' rapist.

Is Remington's handgun ammo going down hill too? Thought about seeing if Remington will take this defective box back, what do you think I should do? It is only one round, but I won't be buying anymore pistol ammo from "Big Green".

I've never had any issues with Rem green/yellow or green/gold box stuff, but won't go near the green/white box Remington UMC junk anymore.

You are writing about newbies and you aren't sure if the gun would have detonated properly with a backwards primer? WTF?

Call Remington. More than likely they will want it back.

I try to avoid Remington anything. Ever buy any of their brass grin ? Their old 88 gr JHP .355 bullet was a good bullet to reload, it fed well because of its ball profile and penetrated well because it deformed slightly. Really a 380 round with a backwards primer is only slightly less effective than one with a normally seated primer.

My thoughts exactly.
