I straight piped my 99, pulled out of the driveway about 7:15am Saturday morning and started rowing through the gears, noticed people down the block pulling their trash cans to the street.
Ran it like that for a few months and re-installed the muffler, it was a straight through design and had minimal impact on EGT's.
