I found a nice S&W 625-7 mountain gun in 45 long colt. I already have one in 44 mag that I've had for about 15 years and carried a lot before buying a 329pd. I couldn't help but buy the 45 colt version. When were they made and how common are they in 45 colt? I used to see one from time to time but this is the first one I've seen in a few years. It seemed like a good deal at the price.

I don't know the exact answers to your questions but when I'm at gunshows I Mountain Guns are things I always look at. I see a lot of 45 ACP's and not many 45 Colts. Probably this is due to people not re-selling the 45 Colts.

The best deal I found about 5 years ago was $700 (stainlesss steel). That was right here on the 24 and I picked it up right quick smile

They were more like $800+ on GB and elsewhere back then.

More and more, they are harder to find these days. There are none listed at all on GB right now.

That's a S&W Model of 1989. GREAT pistol!

45 Colts are definitely not common in my area. I love my 657MG and I would have jumped at this one as well. Nice find.

Couple years ago I was looking for a 45c in a S&W. On Gunbroker, they were pretty common, the Mountain Gun in 45C.

Nice find, Burleyboy. And beautiful gun, alukban.

I have a 625-2 Model of 1988 I bought from a friend in a temporary cash crunch that is tight as a duck's ass with a good trigger and in very good shape.

Only downside to me is that it's chambered .45 ACP and not .45 Colt, which I would prefer. As our situation is now, I guess that's not all bad.

Thought about selling it. But, I may and should probably just keep it.

The .45 Colt version of the 625-7 MG will bring in the $900-1100 range depending on condition and if it has a box.

I had one of the 5" PC Models in .45 ACP and it was one of the best shooting Smiths I have ever owned.

Funny but in checking the completed auctions on GunBroker, the HOT 625-7 is the 3"...they are bringing $1400-2000...

The Mountain Guns are one of the nicest balanced guns Smith ever brought out...

Bought my 657mg new for around $500 sold it for "who know's why" about 5 years ago for north of $700 & sure wish I had it back.

It was perfect, tight, accurate and I'd installed the s&w gold bead front sight on it & a pair of beautiful factory finger groove combat grips too.........big sigh
