If the puffballs are still pure white inside I think they can be cut into 'steaks' and sauted, grilled etc. The hat should boiled for about a week in a very strong beef broth, it will still be stringy but the taste of sweat should be gone by then......... Be careful with shrooms and remember All mushrooms can be eaten ONCE!!!! https://blog.mycology.cornell.edu/2006/10/26/giant-puffballs-calvatia-gigantea/

I'll have to try the 'Puffball Fritter' recipe. I fried some one time and frankly I think the hat would have tasted better.

Curse the neighbors dog, then run over with the 5.5hp Lawnboy. No Lawnboy, neighbors don't have a dog. Now what?

Or fry a steak first then do the butter, salt, pepper & onions in the steak drippings.
