But isn't all the high bc bullets just target bullets anyway? I don't know that I could trust a target bullet to get the job done. I like energy exits and bullets to weigh the same after I shoot the as they do when i load then.

I don't even know if it's even ethical to shoot big game animals with target bullets?

This doesn't apply to the Tanner and 16bore back/forth.

What tickles the chit outta me is the guys who go on and on about this bore diameter because it's smokes rh other and they shoot something like a partition. If you're going to boast about the caliber at least shoot a bullet to prove your point...grin. I just hunt deer so everything over a 75amax is big to me

Yet no mention of bullets so who the hell knows.

The 270 gets its ass obliterated by the 7mag and you trying to prove otherwise is ridiculous. The 270 has killed and will still kill a bunch of chit, but it's easily out classed at distance.

The 162 is a great bullet, never said it wasn't. I'd rather have the 180 Scenar, 168 Berger, 180 Berger, or 195 Berger...

No chit everything you said is right but like 16bore said who knows what bullets he's talking about??? That's his point and he understands about bc numbers and all that chit. Yes a 7mm will hand a 270 it's azz but not when everyone is shooting junk bc bullets.

What's the Fact the it was introduced in the 60's got to do with the reason the cartridge was brought to market. Weren't all cartridges introduced to sell more rifles???

500 yards...

7 Mag 180/.754/2825 = -44", 9" wind, 2200 ft/lbs

.270 Win 140/.488/2950 = -44", 13.7" wind, 1540 ft/lbs

That's about 40% more energy, 50% less drift, and equal "trajectory" for the Seven.

May not matter to you... but 40% more ass... and 50% less drift is a big deal to me...

The 7mag load you cite is a good one......no one has argued that point. With great bullets the 7 always wins. Not everyone is shooting good bullets.

Quick look at my app...for what it's worth

A .277 140 tsx.....says .404

A .284 140 tsx ....says .412

Again I know the 7mm has supierior bullets but you have to shoot them.

Yes and if handloading why in the wide wide world of sports wouldn't you shoot them? That's the point I'm getting at.

On the same page I swear but not everyone is and that was his point. I can't imagine doing other wise either but also laugh like hell when some(not you) chant 6.5/7mm or whatever and shoot a tsx. You're right it's stupid to have excellent bullets available and not shooting th m.

Because the TSX may be a superior bullet terminally?

There are other considerations for a BG bullet besides BC.

Don't go putting words in my mouth again.....you're good at that. Tsx are great killers and most of my kills are closer than farther. This isn't a hunting bullet conversation right now so stay in contex.....

I must have missed the memo....I thought all bullet conversations in the Hunting Rifle section were "hunting bullet" conversations.

But never mind.....carry on. I'm enjoying the discussions.
