Home Forums Birds & Dogs Upland Game Need a new pair of upland boots, what do you recommend?

After 15 years my Cabela's guide boots have started to give out at the stiching. They have given me very good service, looking for a replacement. I do need Gortex and maybe 200 grams insulation. Not to crazy about the bobed nub sole, picks up too much mud. Also since I will be turning 70 next year, lightweight would be also very good.

914 Red Wing Men's 8-inch Boot Brown, is my all time favorite. My oldest working pair are on the 3rd soles, think they were built for me in 2010. They are still 100% waterproof, and are as comfortable as my newer pairs, just beat up and ugly from the countless hunting miles.

If I need a backpack/mountain boot, then Kenetrek fits and works for me.

I like having a tough boot with lots of ankle support. I spend alot of time hunting mearns quail on steep rocky slopes. (still doing it at 66)The Lowa Camino GTX boots I wear are now on their third season, which I believe will end their last due to the tread getting low. Boot held up otherwise with absolutely no issues.
