A decent 1899 .250-3000 has been on my list. This one is headed my way. Sure hope it makes the shipping ok. I probably paid more than I should have, but it's appears to be quite nice and scratches one off my list. SN range is 1862xx.

Does anyone know about the serial number range where the cross-hatched trigger ended? (Will look at it when it gets here). BTW, has a 22" barrel.

That's a little better than "decent" there Keith. Congrats!

My 250-3000 is around 192XXX and it too has the cross hatched trigger.

Up against the 250/3000 I have seen and owned that one is a winner. If you find a nicer one please let me know and I'll take that old nice one off your hands. wink GW wink

Thanks for all the comments. It is really nice, but unfortunately it does come with one flaw. But even with it, I am really happy to add it to the lineup.

Beautiful rifle!

I believe the perchbelly and trigger changed around serial number 193,xxx.

The checkered trigger wasn't on the post WWI 1899 250-3000's. These rifles started at about 193,000. 1862xx should be late 1916 production. One of my checkered trigger 1899 250-3000's has serial number 1900xx. It also has a large crack in the forearm even though it's in excellent shape. It also doesn't come apart with the normal procedure. We may be seeing a trend here. Your rifle is a beauty. David

Yes indeed. I wouldn't kick that rifle out of bed for eating crackers!

I have one just like that one. Deep perch belly and all.

Actually, the 1899 Deluxe 250-3000 is the prettiest rifle of the 99 lot. Like I said before, if mine ends up in a different home, you know that it was either stolen or I passed away.

Very pretty gun. High quality.

John, they're all 22". I don't think Savage made any 24" 250-3000 TD barrels. David

Picked it up today. Took a bunch of pics and put them on photo bucket. Rather than waste space here, if you are interested, you can see them here: Open link, then after it opens, just click on the arrow on the far right half way up.

Good gracious! There are some beautiful rifles in this thread. The early 250-3000s are about my favorite 99.

And the ONLY thing that separates anyone from owning one is the willingness/ability to spend the cash. They are out there waiting to be owned.

Norm, I was wondering how long it would take for someone to catch that! Just goes to show, even 100 years ago there were bad Monday mornings after a long-weekend :-).
