The federal land in my state is around 50k square miles. And I want to keep it that way! Never want to have to buy a hunting lease or have to ask permission to hunt or fish

Not owned by the feds, owned by we the people.

Too fahqn much. It wouldn't be so bad if you could actually use it for something, but between the Nazi Park Circus, USF&WS, to much is locked up.

Try explaining that to the feral pukes.

The "people" might own it - but it is held as a personal fiefdom by the bureaucrats. Their own backyard, so to speak.

Sure has been nice loving the outdoors, and living left of the Rockies.

The concept of federal land as we practice it is another uniquely
American invention.

I've guided Europeans who were in awe of our public lands. They were also puzzled by so many Americans who take it for granted.

And to think, about 75% of our National Forests in the lower 48 were created by Executive Order over less than a year's time.

I'm free to roam, camp, hunt, hike, and otherwise enjoy vast tracts of land that would otherwise be locked away by a small number of individuals.

I'm a huge fan of Federal land, as well as state land. That's PUBLIC LAND, which we can all enjoy.

Entiat Mountains, Washington. High country mule deer hunt. My son and I were looking down on mountain goats as we hunted mule deer! FREE, if you can use hiking boots...


Most of my hunting, fishing, hiking, has been done on government owned lands, and I treasure those lands.

Actually, I think it's kowtowing to the Alaskan "indigneous" tribes that's the biggest problem.........

I was checking out some national references the other day and compiled this chart of the top 10 states ranked in terms of Public Land. No surprises I'm sure.

The bottom 9 states combined do not equal AKs total:

From l to r, above is the State, total land, public land, % public land of total land, and rank. As you can see, AK is true to form. AZ not too shabby either.

I love the freedom to roam the mountains and desert of the west. I don't want to see our lands sold to big money guys or given to the states, who will in turn sell them to big money guys.

Alaska only has one recognized "Tribe" and it is a little one. Most are not tribes at all.

That's why I want Cali to secede--Mexico will conquer those snowflakes with a couple hundred troops and a pair of tanks.

Then they can kiss their PC goodbye..........

You are correct. It's just easier to say tribes than try to list all the native groups who can't even agree on what to call themselves.

Federal land is great, if you can access it. Trouble is most Federal land in Alaska is not easily accessed due to lack of roads. Lack of roads, because so much land is Federal.

I suppose if your interaction with rangers went down like this:

You'd have a different view of the Federal government as a benevolent guardian of the peoples land.
