I picked up a Rem 700 in 223 for a truck gun for hogs. Youngest daughter may use it for deer also. Anyone have a 50 grn TSX/TTSX pet load using CFE 223?

What twist is your barrel? I picked up an older M700 and it had a 1 in 14 twist. Since the monometals are longer, the only Barnes I could get it to shoot were the 36gr VG. Everything else keyholed at 15 yards and wouldn't touch the target after that. Got a Douglas 1 in 9 and now it will shoot anything. Haven't tried CFE223. I've used H335, H4895 and BLC(2). Settled on H335.

Don't know if that will stabilize the 50TSX or not but at least you have the option of using something with lead in it. In Commiefornia we are strictly unleaded.

The 1 in 12 should stabilize the 50 TSX, even at lower elevations in Texas..Try 24-25 grains of TAC or 25-26 IMR 4895
Seating depth on Barnes is often different, they like a bit of a jump...

My "serious" load in my 1-9" .223 is with the 50gr. TSX, pushed by a snoot full of CFE-223. Best accuracy so far- 1/2" in my scoped H-Bar AR. Follow the published recipes. Seat the TSX a little deeper than you would others, they like a little jump as they get started- not my idea, was recommended by knowledgeable folks here.

I got good speeds out of that CFE223 and Barnes bullets. I like that stuff!

And you'll be cleaning your bore a lot less frequently with CFE-223 than you will with "traditional" powders. For once advertising claims and internet "wisdom" are true.
I finally talked the LGS into stocking some TAC, so a couple pounds are now in my possession. Testing to commence after the holidays. Expectations are high, so we shall see. (My local powder guy has an excellent variety on the shelf, but never any TAC. I didn't understand why until he told me I was the only guy asking for it. Mysterious, what with all the good press the stuff gets. Perhaps we shooters in general are a pretty hidebound lot...)

if you want change you have to put in your 2 cents, you can't just sit on the sidelines and whine

You will find TAC and CFE-223 to be nearly identical in performance...not a bad thing!
