Been an advocate of this type of program for decades...
Glad to see that someone in the Federal Government got off their duff and got something like this rolling....
http://www.bleedingcontrol.org/~/media/bleedingcontrol/files/stop%20the%20bleed%20booklet.ashx
Guess it was something that came out of Sandy Hook aftermath...
With the amount of radical Islamic Terrorists within our society, its important more and more of the public know this type of information.
Orlando Shootings, Riverside CA shootings, Sandy Hook.... three examples of where people died, but would not have, if those around them ( or even themselves) would have known just simple first aid on how to stop bleeding...
At Virginia Tech, there would have been one more victim... and potentially a lot more people shot on top of it...
A young man with a strong leg wound, made a tourniquet out of an extension cord to save himself... and while everyone around him was freaking out... he then blockade the classroom door and then herded his fellow classmates into a corner of the room that the shooter could not seen via the window in the door.....
He was first listed as a hero, until the media learned that he had learned all of this, via Boy Scouts and that he was an Eagle Scout.... the media doesn't like Boy Scouts due to their stance against gays being in leadership roles...
I've also long been an advocate, that for a person to get a Drivers License... along with the obvious skills and knowledge also should have to be able to pass a basic CPR course and ALSO be kept current on biannual refreshers....
Not only would it keep highway death toll numbers down... but we also have to deal with radical Islam and other terrorists that have infiltrated our country.......
at least it is the first step in the right direction...
"Minus the killings, Washington has one of the lowest crime rates in the Country" Marion Barry, Mayor of Wash DC
“Owning guns is not a right. If it were a right, it would be in the Constitution.” ~Alexandria Ocasio Cortez

Basic First Aid was taught in High School back in my day.
Should still, but that would promote actually giving a schit about someone other than one's self - and the government doesn't want any of that.
Note: I thought this was going to be another Megyn Kelly thread...
