When John Glenn orbited the Earth, I was 3 years old. Mom was passing by me, glued to the television, and I looked up and asked if John Glenn was going to be going past Heaven, and would he see my Grandpa, who had died the previous month. Mom was touched enough to send it into the local paper, and they printed it. That was my first time in print.
I just saw John Glenn is dead at age 95. I'm still wondering. With any luck I hope he meets Grandpa.
God speed John Glenn.

Col. Glenn's WW2/Korea/Spaceflight status as hero certainly deserves accolades.
As a Democratic Senator who favored gun control, not so much.

I put him and John McCain in the same category. Their exploits while in uniform are the stuff of legend, and worthy of hero status. After they took off the mufti, they went south rapidly.
