Since the enrollment period to change insurance is past, Now we get a letter from United Health saying CVS is no longer a preffered provider. Wife needs quite a few prescriptions. We have had good service from the local CVS/Target. The options close to us are King Soopers, Walmart, Walgreens. No way in H can my wife drive 15 miles of city traffic to get to Costco or Sams, or even Safeway. There is nothing we can find searching for the satisfaction on any of these. Natrurally, the letter says costs "may" increase, no idea if how much. Any of you have experience with the medicare drugs with any of the others? thanks

Walgreens was not a preferred pharmacy on my plan, however I was not willing change my prescriptions over to Walmart or stand in the infamous Walmart waiting line.

I think my prescriptions were $5 more at Walgreens compared to Walmart. Money I'm willing to spend if I don't have to go in Walmart and wait with the other cattle..

I won't go into Walmart for anything. Even if it's free.

Unless it's something I need NOW for a cold and such, all prescriptions are via mail order.

have had good luck with local Wahlgreens. publix & kroger pharmacies are nearby and people seem to like them. never used them, so can't say.

i'm on united healthcare and have not received any correspondence about the providers.

Can you do the mail order option on your prescriptions?
With my insurance at work if I needed an ongoing prescription I would do it mail order and you get approx 3 mo worth and it is cheaper than going to pick it up at the pharmacy.
With several prescriptions it could save you a fair amount of money.

We do mail order on everything except the meds for chronic pain, which can't be mailed. We did find a couple things that mail order was raping us on, so changed back.

BCBSNC just dropped CVS in NC for 2017 because CVS wanted more $$ than what WalGreen, Wal Mart, Rite Aide etc would take. We liked the people at CVS but $$ is $$...off to Wal Green we go...nicer store and closer.....CVS got greedy and lost a lot of NC customers.

I got tired of it always being (closed during) lunchtime when I'd go to pickup a Rx at Walmart so I switched to Osco. My $9 Rx was $60 at Osco so I cancelled it and got back in line at Walmart.

Now I have BCBS Advantage and Walmart is still pretty cheap.

These are contractual agreements between the chain and the insurer. It has been my experience that as soon as the insurer drops a chain from their preferred list the chain starts to renegotiate the contract. It usually only takes a week or two for them to work out their differences.

Call customer service next week and see what they say.

I like CVS a little but I love their stock even more. About 5 years ago I noticed every woman I knew always had to go to CVS. Not to mention their parking lots were always jammed. Then they had stores that were open 24 hours. So I loaded up on the stock and never looked back. Went from $30 to >$100 over 4 years or so.

Always follow the women and the stores they frequent!!

Mail order is THE way to go on this. Automatically renews, and mails out. Pulls automatically from the funds on file. It is also cheaper (I think 8-10%) via mail order than it is at the pharmacy. If you are taking regular medication, the mail order is second in convenience only to direct deposit on payroll checks.

All my Dr send my RXs to CVS via internet. Have them filled as needed and mailed to me. VA RXs are free.

Beware of thieves, scammers and dishonest members on the "Fire" classifieds. Ya there is a thief here too. Whatever!!

They're all around the CampFire and everywhere.
