Just got a nice little Christmas bonus from the boss. Ordered a DT Mk.II trigger, a new Wolf spring kit and a PTG M98 Safety for one of my little projects.

What's Santa bringing you this year?

Strangely nothing. Only rifle I have any interest in right now is a LH Remington 700 in (gulp) 30-06

Seems that in the past two years I've been "gifted" a pile of '06 ammo that needs burning.

I guess the only other thing that'd float my boat would be if Santa wanted to trade my ULA 300WSM for his ULA '06 Wonder what the chances of that are?

I'd even give him gas/feed money to boot. smile

Ha, 20 head, nice!

Sam, it's getting a 3.5-10x40 CDS in X-low Talleys.

Nice rifle, first year production. Trigger is a real surprise. No problem to get a clean, crisp 2.5 lbs. Could even go lower.

Merry Christmas bruhta!

I'm eating cookies and drinking beer.

Got a two year old sitting on the counter lickin' the bowl and 8month preggo momma telling me to not eat so many cookies. Lol. Looking in here every now and then.

Oh....no new rifles for me yet.

Thinking a Howa 6.5 Creed might be on its way soon though.

Well no rifles this year, got that covered. Boss did let me pick up a really nice S&W Hand Ejector in 32 long 6" nickled with target stocks.. Also a Browning BPS in 12 gauge for steel shot.

Better buying than selling with prices as they sit right now. Hopefully they will go up a bit before next winter. Dad needs to sell those milk cows(I understand you run beefers), his health just isn't up to it anymore. Least he gets some help up there. Younger brother and I don't live far, within 2 miles of the place(even if we are both out of town for work a lot) and mt nephew helps some. Told Dad to unload some of that stock when the price was high in '15...

Got a Nikon Monarch 3.5x10x50 and Santa's blessings to get the next interesting rifle that comes through my buddy's pawn/gun shop. He knows the oddball kind of stuff I like and calls me when he gets something in. Funny thing is, he has more rifles now than I have ever seen in his shop and nothing that fits the bill. Unfortunately, when the oilfield went south, many around these parts had to sell some of their prized possessions, including firearms.

I have just come to the realization that I have about twenty rifles too many. The strange thing is that I am at peace with that. New Years resolution is to gift the ones that need gifting and sell the rest. No danger in Santa bringing another. The family knows my hard hunting days are the memories of good hunts and good friends.

My future hunts are likely to be for dove, maybe I take up duck again, and perhaps varmint calling. Our ranches are so under grazed that seeing a coyote or bobcat is a challenge. Maybe I do more bank fishing.

Life is good. A faithful wife, great kids who are an asset to their communities, grandchildren following in the parents generous ways.

Merry Christmas to all and His peace to you.

Jack

How close to Sainthood did you have to get to pull that off. Don't know that I could behave THAT well for a whole year.

Santa must like you.

My first smartphone - an iphone 7+ and an interior brown bear hunt in Alaska in April.
Looking forward to our 20th annual elk hunt in NM on Jan. 4. Looks like we luck out with a snow shoe hunt as well!
