Shot this doe at 540 yards on the last day of our doe season. 260 Rem 100gr NBT @3450fps. Sighted in at 350yard zero and held 1 mil high. Dropped like a bag o' poop.

Savage 260 Rem Criterion barrel, B&C stock, EGW base and 4-14X50 IOR with MP 8 reticle.

Didn't you know that there is no way that you can shoot a 100-grain bullet that far? It should have just plunked into the dirt.

Good shot! I love my .260, but I use 129 Interlocks @ 3000 fps.

I'm married to the 260. Was into before the Creed came along and wasn't going to switch.

SFP scope also!

I recovered the jacket from f the NBT. Was very surprised the core separated at that distance. I gave the doe to a friend and he said it had a decent hole in the shoulder when he butchered it.

I'll have to post a pic of the high tech shooting sticks. Hockey tape on them.

Great shot, not familiar with the 260 but you did a super job with it on that doe. Alot longer shot than I have ever shot at game but I am dreaming!!

Thanks

" 260 Rem 100gr NBT @3450fps."

Seems awfully fast! What is your load and barrel length?

I could barely muster 3500 fps from my Rem 700 Sendero!

Gee that load sounds awfully familiar...

owning a couple of 260s, I don't need that explained to me...

My Rugers with 22 inch barrels give me 3350 fps with a 100 grain Ballistic Tip...

The VLS Rem, with a 26 inch barrel with that load yields 3450s fps...

hence why I don't see what a proper 260s gives up to a Creedmoor...

The 260 is still a great cartridge even though the 6.5 Creedmoor is the in cartridge right now. My Savage 260 Rem has a 3" magazine and I have had no problems loading sleek bullets. I seems like short actions are getting longer these days than the 2.8" that seems to have been the standard.
