I just bought a really minty tang safety Ruger M77 22-250 (circa 1977) for PD's, coyotes, and maybe a wolf if I see one etc. Looking to put moderately priced glass on it....maybe 4-14x40 or something.
Suggestions?
Cheers,
Rob

If you can find one, a gloss Nikon Monarch UCC 4-12x40 would work great and look good on that gloss blued rifle. Last one I bought was about $200.

Rob I'd have to go with vintage glass on that rifle. But I also see you live in a non-free country. Is that a game changer or is used glass still easy? Dave

Still pretty free up here....EMT'd for the rifle last Thursday, delivered to MY door Monday. Scopes will be the same, although we don't have the same selection/volume as 'Mercia.
Vintage would work....

I'm not familiar with that acronym, but is your rifle a sporter or Varmint weight?
Either way it sounds like a good find.

I like the Burris E1 4.5-14x42, mine is the discontinued A.O. mode. The Predator Quest is the new side focus version. Another option, link here is the Drop Tine 4.5-14x42 A.O. Along with a ballistic app and a range finder.

It's a sporter.
EMT = electronic money transfer. Basically emailed funds through your banks website or app.
Hopefully a shooter...
Cheers,

I had a Burris Black Diamond 6-24x50 on a 22-250 awhile back that did a real good job.

I like the SWFA SS 3x15 for that kinda stuff. But if you wanted to go retro a old Leupold vxII in 3x9 would make that thing scream mullet and cowboy boots.

RVB: I recommend a Leupold 4.5x14 variable with adjustable objective. Congrats on the new Rifle I hope it works out well for you! Those are cool old guns - is it a sporter weight or Varmint weight Rifle? Hold into the wind VarmintGuy

I have an older, El Paso-built, Weaver K6 on a similar rifle, a late 1970s vintage Ruger 77R in 257AI. That scope is a nice match in size and magnification for the shots that I'm likely to take with it, out to (maybe) 300+/- yards.
