I was at a gun show yesterday and trying ti digest something Is this possible.....
I walked by a guy that has a beautiful 657 (no dash) possibly unfired new in box with all the stuff I think he was aking 1100.00
Later I walked by and there was another old fart and they were talking and the guy with the 657 was shaking his head no. I noticed that the guy had a rope around him neck and a 3rd gen S&W hanging. I have collected them for quite a while and they always have my attention. I waited my turn and walked up to the guy and asked him what madel he had and he said a 1006 and of course that caught my attention and I asked what it was worth and he said well about 1200.00 but he would take 1000.00 probably I think I rolled my eyes out loud
But here is where it was interesting he was trying to get 2 for one from the 657 guy but the 657 guy was willing to trade the 657 even up for a no boxed 1006 Is that even possible????? I understand if the guy really wanted the 1006 of course it is but in the real world is a 1006 worth what a prestine 657 is worth?
If it is dont tell Marlin I got my 1006 from him years ago and he will be lookig for interest HAHA
But I have to admitt there is a part of me that would do that in a heart beat if it was a 57 NO QUESTION
But I have a soft spot for a 57 it was the first center fire hand gun I bought at about the age of 21 or 22 I still have it and cherish it

Without looking at GB, IME the 1006 in average condition is a $700 gun. The 657 in today's market may have been priced about right at $1100. What those two clowns do in the privacy of their own gunshow is no business of mine.

It ain't just you Hank. In my case it is 'too many calendars in the trash can'. I've bought/traded several nice 41-44 S&W's for 300-450 bucks.

What those two clowns do in the privacy of their own gunshow is no business of mine. The op didn't say what condition the 1006 was in. It may have been in above average condition. Generally you aren't going to find any 1006 for $700.00, unless it's beat to hell. Having looked at GB, I can tell you the average price of around 50 pistola's (that sold) is about $1,000.00. Prices range from $650.00 (1 pistol), $726.00 (1 pistol) all the rest were $800.00+ to $1,500.00 (FBI model). Like Scott said earlier: "neck and neck"... Probably a pretty even trade and if both parties were happy, that's all that matters...
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

It's a way dipshiet and apparently it's better than your way.ALL I looked at were guns that HAVE sold, not listed prices. If you see 100 guns that all sold for XYZ, that's a pretty good guess to market value. If you KNOW a better way to ascertain the value of something, I'm all ears. But obviously you don't have a better way than guessing by what tickles your cunny.
