Katie Rich, a writer for “Saturday Night Live,” has been suspended from her position at that show following a widely criticized post she made Friday on her personal Twitter account in which she mocked Barron Trump, the 10-year-old son of President Donald J. Trump.
She was suspended immediately after her tweet, and her suspension is indefinite, according to someone familiar with the plans at “S.N.L.,” who was not authorized by NBC to comment on personnel matters.
That tweet on Friday, during Mr. Trump’s inauguration ceremony, drew widespread condemnation, and Ms. Rich subsequently deleted the post (which said “Barron will be this country’s first homeschool shooter”) and deactivated her Twitter account. Her name did not appear in the closing credits of “Saturday Night Live” in its broadcast on Saturday.
On Monday afternoon, Ms. Rich reactivated her account and posted a message that said: “I sincerely apologize for the insensitive tweet. I deeply regret my actions & offensive words. It was inexcusable & I’m so sorry.”
The suspension of Ms. Rich, who was hired to join “S.N.L.” at the end of 2013, comes at a delicate time for the program, when it has felt emboldened to lampoon Mr. Trump but has faced his swift retaliation on Twitter.
Following the show’s broadcast of Jan. 14, in which the actor Alec Baldwin played Mr. Trump in a parody of his news conference from earlier that week, Mr. Trump wrote on Twitter the following day:
“NBC News is bad but Saturday Night Live is the worst of NBC. Not funny, cast is terrible, always a complete hit job. Really bad television!”
Mr. Trump made no public comments about Saturday’s show, in which Mr. Baldwin did not appear. NBC said on Monday that Mr. Baldwin will host “Saturday Night Live” on Feb. 11 and appear throughout that program.

You must admit that in the TV coverage of Trump at the inauguration, Barron acted like a spoiled brat. Twitching, jerking, and then scowling in a pout when he was corrected by somebody.

Translation: The high muckety-mucks at NBC made me apologize as a condition of continued employment. I still hate Trump and would gladly post demeaning things about his entire family if I could.

I don't think a lot of people realize for one thing the kid is only 10 years old.

There is a change.org petition asking NBC to fire Rich.
For a long time I thought change.org was a bunch of touchy feely socialist crap being forced upon private businesses but after a closer look I do see a few ideas there that I agree with.

Given the amount of exposure and change that kid has been put through, I think he did pretty darn well. Got a kick out of watching him play peek-a-boo with one of the family babies.

As much as I hate the obongo family I focused my dislike and my comments on Barry and his wife, leaving their girls out of it. Same thing with Chelsea when she under 18. Attacking the children of the president is low class, ghetto behavior.imo

I have raised four 10 year olds and I saw nothing, I repeat, nothing, of young Mr. Trumps behavior that I could describe as anything but normal for a 10 year old!

I have no idea why you would describe him as anything but a normal 10 year-old (sans the electronic devices the vast majority of 10 year old's have in front of their faces virtually all the time nowadays)?
I wonder how YOUR 10 year old's would comport themselves after 18 hour long days of standing around and not fully understanding the importance to the country/adults on this first time ever day/experience for him.
Not only do I disagree with you I commend young Mr. Trump for his patience and good behavior on that long and demanding day!

He does look to be older than 10 due to his clothing and somewhat mature for a 10 year old looking face!
Again, after raising four ten year old's, Baron did extremely well under extremely trying and unusual circumstance.
