In light of current events, mobs, anarchist violence in the streets due to the recent change in political power, I wonder if anyone has recently had a change of outlook about this topic?
just getting ready to drive my wife to work. I'll leave my truck there, and walk the 6 blocks back to the condo. It's free covered parking. Two weeks this time. Just use her car when I am down South. I have a S&W 442 with two reloads in my my front pockets as we speak. I have complete confidence in the J frame Smith. You're a good man Sam!

My favorite carry, S&W mod 60. Sometimes in a Simply Rugged OWB, sometimes in this Galco IWB

At 58, I just started wearing hooties a hoody while out an about because they conceal a Glock 19 pretty well.
Not sure what the summer looks like, yet. Probably back to the Glock 43 IWB with untucked Panama Jack shirts. I find the printed patterns hide lumps better.

Its all the holster. Of course the guys who have never spent more than $75 on a holster don't get it at all. With the right holster you can wear a LOT of gun and do so with good concealment and all day comfort. I guess I don't get it either. This didn't cost more than $75.00, or even more than $25.00. But I wore "a lot" of gun in it (at least, that's what a .38 snub was thought to be on my dept) with good concealment and comfort. I guess I was just lucky in my ignorance. I have a feeling though, that a $200.00 holster isn't the solution to deep-concealed carry. Neither is the gun. Maybe fitting the gun (like picking any other tool you'll need) to the mission and situation is.

This has got to be one of the best lines ever... ....I also think there are two times when you can have too much ammunition. when you are on fire, and when you are drowning
Lunatic fringe....we all know you're out there.

I shoot my 638 at close range (0 to 10 yds) better than most large revolvers and all auto's I've tried. Especially when trying to shoot quickly as in self defense simulation.

I took another pistol training class this weekend. It was hard to keep up with everyone with my G43, most had G19's and G17's, and some SW MP guns, one 1911. NO one tried it with a revolver, and honestly in the course of fire with up to 3 "bad guys" to engage I struggled with my G43, but its what I carry. I have 2 J Frames, and as far as I am concerned in the current environment they are collectors items, if your carrying a J frame more power too you I guess.

There are some very good revolver classes out there too but as a general rule, the bigger 19, 17 sized pistols are easier to shoot.
If you are comfortable carrying a 19 then by all means do it. But if you're not, then practice with your pistol of choice and know your limitations. Run 1000 rounds through your mouse gun and see if you're still struggling.
I started shooting my DAO J frame 357 and it was pitiful. After sticking with it, I'm a lot more comfortable with it now. It's still not a full size M&P but it's better than a rock now.

The boot grips on my 638 make it a natural pointer for me, With or without sights. The natural pointing makes it fast on target either way. I stay out of the "bad" parts of town at night and on holidays. If I have to go out during troubled times a proven AR will go with me. Open carry of rifles has always been legal in Texas and it would attract only moderate attention in my city.
