The gaps there don't look wide enough to get a stout pry bar in there. You might try driving a wedge with a heavy hammer in to spread them rather than prying. A chisel might work as your wedge to start and change to a larger wedge if necessary. Also, driving a wedge may yield better control over the process. If necessary, use a torch and apply heat.

Did they make you pay for the guard rail? How bad is your truck?

I was going to say to take an air chisel to them to try to bend them enough to punch them out, but you got it.

broke my shoulder in NM, decided to drive 700 miles back to corpus and go see docrocket instead of going to the hospital up there. i guess i relaxed my grip on the wheel due to the pain and the truck drifted to the right. only thing damaged were those lug nuts and studs.

Well done. I'll file that method away for the next time I run up against a guardrail ... grin

Some how I missed the guardrail chapter of this hunt. How many miles were left to go after hitting the rail? The front end must have vibrated like hell for the rest of the trip. You're lucky you made it back in one piece. I hope Doc made it worth your while. 700 miles is a long drive not busted up! You're a mad man! laugh
