Deleted my post of last night asking to identify a Marlin as I found it in my old Gun Digests.

Could someone look up the blue book value of a Marlin 336T .30-30 which is about 90% on wood and maybe 90-95% on metal? This is the model with straight grip, square finger lever and 18 1/2" barrel and does NOT have the hammer block safety (that was introduced in the 336TS in 1984). Based on my research it was made sometime between 1981 and 1984.

TIA.

Your receiver was made in 1980, but the completed carbines with 18.5" barrel and squared lever (pre-safety) were made only in 1983, according to Brophy and the Blue Book. Blue Book has been famously inaccurate (lowball), concerning many out-of-production leverguns, so I wouldn't put much stock in it. I didn't bother to buy their book this year.

I would guestimate the value of one, in the condition you indicate, to be about $375 or a smidge more. There can't be many of 'em around.

Looks like the price listed on this one is a fair deal. I'll still try to see if I can get'em to sell me that worthless POS old worn out rifle for a bit less.

Thank you kindly.

Well, I guess it was a good buy.

On Friday night I went back to Cabelas, that's where I found it on Tuesday night, and it had been sold.

I done snoozed and losed. Oh, well.
