Would anyone here have any recommendations on a really good one who could diagnose my pre-64 94 and tune it up if such is a possibility?

Recently bought one and the exterior is as described but the action seems a bit more balky than I remember for the two or three post-64 94's I've had. In particular, when you open the lever it definitely takes a greater force at the very end to activate the cartridge lifter, which finally pops up with a forceful snap. The action works and the rifle feeds, fires and ejects okay, at least for the 10 rounds I've put through it, but it seems like it should be smoother than it is and require less force.

Even if all is normal then at least someone could verify that and if nothing else give its 62 year old innards a good cleaning.

Anyone in the SW Idaho/Eastern Oregon area would be great or I'd be willing to ship it to someone who really knows his stuff and is reputable and won't keep it for six months.

P.S. While I think a Marlin 336 has distinct advantages over the pre-angle eject 94's for scope mounting and definitely are easier to take apart to clean from the breech, until I got this in my hands I'd forgotten that nothing handles as slick and lively as a standard Winchester Model 94 .30-30 carbine. wink

Post 64's are normally smoother/easier working than pre 64's. I've got both.
