I'm new to reloading so sorry for what is likely a dumb question.I just want to know what to buy when I give it a first go.
My 270 shoots factory Nosler ammo with 140 BT's very well. I bought the Nosler ammo for the brass which I assumed would be very good. I want to try 140 BT and possibly an Accubond.
Which Accubond should I try 130's or 150's? 140's seem hard to get. Which powder and primer would you suggest for the most accurate loads? I'm not as interested in speed as accuracy.
Gun is a Forbes with 24" barrel and shot more 1/2 MOA and under groups than not with the factory 140 Bt's.

Re 26, Fed 210 primers, pick your AB bullet. I'd lean 150 for an all arounder.

Haven't tried RE26. Tried RE22 when I was working up loads but didn't have much luck. H4831 is the old standby. Hard to argue with 50+ years of success. It's scary accurate in my M70FWT.
I am continually astounded at how quickly people make up their minds on little evidence or none at all. Jack O'Connor

Yep, H4831sc would be my first choice also.

Another vote for 4831SC under a 130 gr. Nosler. In my case, I prefer Partitions.

4831sc was crazy slow in my 22" barrel. RL22 and IMR4350 was good with 130 grain ABs. RL26 is looking like it's gonna be awesome with 140 grain ABs.
Shootersproshop.com has 140 grain ABs and 150 grain Partitions in .277 right now.

RL22 has been tops in velocity and accuracy for me in several 270s with the 130 Sierra PH and Hornady IL. Ramshot Hunter is right there with it too and has worked very well with the 130 Hornady's. I've generally had better luck with those than H4831 myself. I want to try RL26 with the 150s...word is it's the schit.

Hard to go wrong w/ H4831. I also got great accuracy w/ RL17 under some 130s. I have some RL26 begging for some heat. We'll see.

I tried a new lot of H4831 a couple years ago that was 300fps slow from previous lots and accuracy was the worst I ever saw with my .270. I thought maybe I did something wrong until a friend mentioned the same thing and others have mentioned problems with it. It would be nice if that was an anomaly.

I've never had a problem with H4831.
It's my goto power in the .270Win for 130gr+ bullets.

H4831SC has worked like a charm in 3 270s with 130-150 gr bullets. In the accuracy department its a hard powder to beat IME

H4831 for 130's and RL26 for 150's...
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

Try several different powders, as each rifle is different, and will prefer one powder over another one. I've only reloaded for one 270, over a 35 year period, and it loves H4831. I have never seen the need to go to anything else.

For 30 years it's been RL-22 and 7828, the new RL-26 loads sound very good though.

Although there are probably several powders that will work well in a .270, a fellow can't go wrong by picking up a jug of H4831, some good 130 gr bullets and get after it
