My days hunting across the pond are likely over, and I honestly have no need nor use for a big boomer, so hopefully someone else can put this rifle to good use.

Gently used Winchester M70 .458 Win Mag
Echols / McMillan stock 13.5" LOP
Hill Country Rifles Pillar and glass bed the stock, cleaned, adjusted and tuned trigger (3lb), test feeding, ejection, and accuracy.

Never scoped the rifle, but shot 500gr. Hornady DGS at 1.094" at 100 yards with iron sites.

Shoots 450gr. North Fork Softs, Solids, and Cup Points with 72gr. AA2230 under MOA

Williams Extractor which has been coated with NP3. Barreled action Cerakoted graphite black.

$1450 shipped to your FFL within USA via USPS Priority. Please ensure your FFL will accept transfer from a non FFL holder.

How is the recoil. Might be time to upgrade my 375 H&H via a project.

With the aforementioned 72grs. of AA2230 and a 450gr. bullet it's very manageable. I had some stiff loaded 500gr.'s which I didn't care for... but was still manageable.

I've got several fistfuls of loaded 450gr. North Forks (solids, cup points, and softs) at 72grs. of AA2230 I'll sell for a good price for whomever takes it off my hands (loaded by Superior Ammo). Wouldn't be able to do anything on the ammo until late May as it's currently in my brothers home out of state.

I used this rifle back in 2012 on my trip to Zimbabwe. Mainly used it to whack several giraffe for lion bait. Hammered the sheit out of them!

I suspect it would give Cape Buff a dirt nap as well! grin

.458 is very versatile, can be loaded with a wide variety of loads for many applications.

So how it kicks depends on how it's being fed.

Good deal, here.

It's grey with speckles. Not sure, but I think it was Charley Santoni that painted. I've always had him paint all my McMillans.

Should also mention the bottom metal is Williams Oberndorf.

That's true, but also the design and ergonomics of the Echols pattern helps to diminish felt recoil. It was a well thought out design by D'Arcy.

John Sharp (Legendary Zimbabwean PH) thought it was a well designed and practical rifle.

Agree on D'Arcy's stock design.

Question, does the serial number start with a "G" for classic?
