Looking at a new barrel for a Contender and see MGM is showing a 6.5mm Classic and 7mm Classic chambering but I am unable to find anything on their site showing what these are.

Could somebody explain what case these 2 cartridges use or are they simply a 6.5x30-30 AI and 7-30 Waters AI?

I believe the classic series are shorter versions. Still use 30-30 cases but the length is 30 herret or 357 herret in length. I believe fyrepoerx has the 25 classic. Perhaps he can tell you more.

Okay may wait to see if he replies. Sounds like something that may be better suited to shorter barrels unless a guy just wants less muzzle blast and recoil from a rifle.

Yes. They have their own versions of 6.5 & 7mm. Both of those could be on my radar, only thing that bothers me is the cost of their barrels. Not sure if worth the extra $100.

Mainly wondering what these "Classic" cartridges are and if worth looking into.

Got this from Match Grade Machine.

Also wondering why they don't chamber 6.5x30-30 in their Contender barrels, just shows Encore on their website, awaiting an answer on that one.
