I have no experience with Sciroccos but I noticed that the new 130gr 264 bullet has a BC of .571. And the new Accubond of the same caliber and weight has a listed BC of .488. Just seemed like a large difference. Is the Scirocco really that much more "streamlined". Thanks.

Here's both side-by-side. The 6.5mm 130gr Scirocco II is on the left, and the 130gr Accubond on the right.

OK, guess I need to recalibrate my eyes for evaluating BC's.

Next question: are they "very different" enough that 488 vs 571 seems reasonable. (I'll presume the answer is yes)

So then next question is: Since published BC's seem to make a big difference, at least from a marketing standpoint, why wouldn't Nosler shape their new bullet to make it more "competitive" with the Scirocco?

The pic is not showing up for me...buy hey, I was wondering the exact same thing? If Swift can do it, why wouldn't Nosler?

The Scirocco has a considerably longer ogive, and is the main reason for the higher BC.

Read some report somewhere on some testing though, and when the BC was measured as a result of shooting, Swift's numbers were a bit optimistic.

Here's cross sections of the bullets; the construction also helps to understand the longer ogive on the Swift.

In the April 2002 Shooting Times, Rick Jamison had a calculated BC for the 180gr 30cal Scirocco of 0.460

JonA reported 0.538/0.547 for the 180 Scirocco

Swift is listing a BC of 0.520 for the 180gr SciroccoII

With a 100 yard zero I've shot the 6.5 130 Scirocco to 600 yards. With click up adjustments it punched target bulls right on the numbers. It's BC worked for me on that particular day.

So far, I really like the Scirocco too; have worked with it in 3 calibers and it shoots well. Whatever the real BC is, it's high.

Haven't done as much with the AB but am working on a 25 cal with it as Swift isn't making on in that caliber yet.

Does anyone have any terminal ballistics to report with the scirocco IIs? They shoot really well but I havent heard much about how well they work on game. Any experiences would be appreciated.

I don't have any first hand experience with Scirocco's but they are similar to Accubond's with a slightly thicker jacket, and should be just a little "tougher". MD or someone else can correct if this is incorrect. Everyone I have heard that has used them has been very pleased with their on-game performance. I am very pleased with Accubond's so, I'd imagine the Swift's are great bullets.
