I got out w a buddy and his pack of 5 beagles yesterday and had a little bit off success.

We went to a spot he runs once a year and usually just takes 1 or 2 rabbits then leaves the rest for seed.

Dogs jumped one right off the bat and he made 3 trips by us before I was able to get him killed. Brush was thick and he was far enough ahead of the hounds he could be methodical in his escape. It didn't end up working.

We had just gathered him up and were getting ready to dress him when the dogs jumped another right where they had been through for the past hour. He only got by once and I got him on the second pass. I think he was the original rabbit and the first one i killed was a sideliner they jumped while on the original track, never know for sure.

It had been about 25 years since I had been in on a be able race, Just like old times and I was reminded how fun and simple it was. Now I am looking for another 410 and heading out tomorrow to talk to a couple landowners I know about more spots to run on. Figure if I can supply a few spots I can get in on more running.

Nice long time since I ran beagles for bunnies.. Most are shot off of rock piles or haystacks these days... Good eating, but not fun like hounds.. Enjoy!!

Same here...almost!

I like fried squirrel a tad better..but fried rabbit, gravy made from the drippings and mashed taters is better than Lobster in my book!

Is there any other kind of skillet for frying?

Told my bride I had forgotten just how much fun it was.
