All this red and orange....ahhhhhhhhhh...my eye's, my eye's!
grin
Anson, annual filter and oil sale at the parts store and I went in and got a barrel of 15w-40 Rotella this morning. But of course we had to use a green tractor to unload it...

one side of the family was AC, the other side Farmall and IH. Grew up on a WD45. First job in a machine shop was turning Farmall flywheels. Uncle worked at JD Moline works. Who remembers when 4020's were considered big field tractors

Sam, when I had 13 tractors, I used to buy Rotella T 15-40 by the barrel too. Then after I thinned the herd, a barrel got to lasting about 3 years. I got worried about moisture contamination as the barrel was in an unheated barn. I use it in everything still but buy it by the gallon. It's a little more money but fresh that way.
We have a farm tire/mechanic shop close by that heats with old oil so that's where mine goes. Bring back an empty one and start collecting again.
Sorry about your eyes. I'm still trying to get used to that Orange Tractor. I do still have two John Deeres. a 1960 530 and a 1952 B.
The Kubota replaced a JD 4430 and a 3020 with loader. It made sense to do it and it was a large tax savings too.
I'll look for a John Deere picture.

Anson, 13 tractors(!), you must have been a collector?
That barrel was $12.99/gallon versus $13.49 for the gallon jugs. Not a big savings.
We don't really have shop much less heated so all of our waste oil goes to my 'uncle' who does have a nice big heated shop.

just shy of 185,000 built. Most in Waterloo. Good thing about orange tractors is it is hard to forget where you left them

Wikipedia says 184,000 were produced. It has to be the most popular JD in history. They bring big money now. I wanted one but wound up with a 3020 instead. It was a pretty good tractor, just not a 4020.

The 4320's were my favorite. I loved that shifter and could still hit all the gears blindfolded. We had a 4010 with the 7th gear reverse, it was a hay loading SOB in it's time.

Early 1970s Case David Brown with a blower. It develops 106HP and is a horse!

The next door neighbor to my parents out at the farm was an avid JD collector.
One of his most prized tractors was an 8010(?). Big, old 4wd with singles and no cab. Sadly he passed away and his widow had an auction. It went for big $$$.
